Jura stone fireplaces are manufactured from sheets of natural marble and then coated with a special texture or finish. The later or finish that is applied can be either Matt or textured in appearance. As Jurastone fireplaces are manufactured from sheets of marble they are very realistic with the cold to touch feel of natural marble fireplaces.
Micro marble is a man made stone made from typically 98% marble and 2% resin. The entire aggregate then formed into marble slabs and worked in the same way as natural marble. Micro marble is more stain resistant than natural marble and offers the luxury of colour consistency. It is possible to have perfect white micro marble that would not be possible in 100% natural marble. In some cases, certain micro marble colours are even more expensive than natural marble due to their high quality and aesthetics.
We would strongly recommend marble fireplaces or micro marble fireplaces as opposed to Jurastone, as micro marble is one consistent texture through the entire fireplace, as opposed to Jurastone which is a thin layer only. For this reason we do not manufacture fireplaces in Jurastone, as we feel it is an inferior product.
